CW Trainer for Morserino 32 is a Windows application that helps you
to practice with telegraphy using Morserino 32. From Version 2.2 of Morserino firmware there is a new option to output keyed and/or decoded characters on USB.
For this there is a new parameter called Serial Output, which can be set to Keyer (default), Decoder, Keyer+Decoder, or
ERRORS only (this outputs some debugging and error messages to USB, but only when none of the other options has been selected). The serial output works in the following modes:
CW Keyer, CW Decoder and Transceiver/iCW/Ext Trx.
You can use the CW Trainer program (download it from here) to display these characters on the computer screen.
Before using the program you have to connect the Morserino USB cable to the computer, configure the Com Port number and then click the Open button to start communicate with Morserino. In this way each character displayed in Morserino
screen will be displayed in the program window too.
You can use CWTrainer in Training mode that is the simplest way to go. Use the top
selector to switch between modes.
On top of the window there is a general purpose timer that you can use to measure the whole training period. On the bottom there are three yellow displays that count the letters, numbers and
signs transmitted during a period. In the middle of the window you can see the characters received from Morserino.
There is also a more competitive way to use CWTrainer. With the Attempt mode the program generates some groups of characters. In the beginning they are displayed in white color. Once you start transmitting the correct character are colored in cyan color, while errors are highlighted in red. Number of errors are displayed in the red display counter. You can correct a wrong character sending a six dots "......" letter. Anyway this don't decrease the Errors counter, it rollback the code so that you can repeat (and correct) the wrong character.
This mode has its own timer so you can measure more than one attempt during the same period.
I suggest you start using the Attempt mode only when you feel confident with the cw code. Based on my experience learning cw is a matter of rhythm and precision, not of speed.
I want to thank Willi (OE1WKL) for adding this fun option to the already great Morserino and I hope you will enjoy the program.
